Figment.com focuses on young adults 13 and up to share their writing, connect with other readers, and compete in contests.
PicLits.com "is a creative writing site that matches beautiful images with carefully selected keywords in order to inspire you. The object is to put the right words in the right place and the right order to capture the essence, story, and meaning of the picture."
WeBook is a writing community that offers a variety of experiences: submiting writing and inviting critiques/ratings; reading other writer's stories and offering suggestions to help them polish their creations; and competing against other writers for a chance to progress through three levels and opportunity for publishers to follow your work. In addition, WeBook Blog offers challenges, which are specific competitions for writers. For example, the one in progress when I first visited the site was to create a description of a monster in 400 words. This site seems to address young adults through adults.
